For $150, I was expecting the worst-thin fake wood that broke before it was even put together. I'm not going to say this thing would survive a tornado, but so far it seems pretty darn solid. I bought it because I have always had a platform bed and can't stand box springs. I have laid an 8" queen memory foam mattress on it, and it holds that up no problem. It has survived the deed with no squeaking and none worse for wear. However, I will warn that this bed probably shouldn't be moved around too much. First off, it is far far too heavy. And the stability does get a little shaky when dragged.
Putting it together wasn't too bad, but then I had my brilliant boyfriend and his power drill to help. I can see how this would be a pain without the power tool. Took a moment to orient ourselves with which piece was which. The true challenge came with putting on the edges to keep the mattress in places (which I love). We had to flip the bed over to be able to screw them in. Definitely would recommend two people for putting it together.
I bought this bed frame about a month ago, and so far no chips or marks. I even put down a glass on the edge and it didn't stain.
It did take getting used to being this low to the ground, as well as watching out for the edge when getting out of bed in the morning (the edges are a bit sharp). Overall, very pleased so far.

Update: It's now been almost a year from purchase date, and the bed frame is still doing quite well. Hasn't chipped and still no stains left behind by placing drinks on the edge (which happens quite often). It has started to squeak every once in a while and I haven't even thought of moving it (we did lift it up once to see if we could fit something under the bed with no luck, and doing so definitely weakened it considerably), so it's obvious this isn't a last forever product. But overall, I'm still very pleased. I figure it still has another couple years in it as long as I don't have to move it anywhere. Would still recommend as a cheap choice that looks good.
