I read reviews of this product (on amazon and other places too) and people mentioned it was a little bit loud so I expected it to not be the quietest unit out there. Well, it is a lot a bit loud. You can hardly carry on a conversation when you are anywhere near it. Even on F1 fans speed, the lowest, it is still just plain loud.

On the bright side, it does crank out the cold air, so that part I really like. It does a great job at cooling.

Installation was very straight forward. One of the reasons I went with the LG was that the unit without the "wings" on it was right at 26". GE and Frigidaire units I looked at were 26.75" wide and given my application, would not work. I replaced a samsung unit with this one, and the install and construction are almost identical which I found interesting.

IMPORTANT: On LG's product web page, they have a download for the product specifications. At the bottom of the 2nd page, they show an icon for the power receptacle. It shows a 230V 15amp (two horizontal contact prongs). That is NOT what the unit I received had. My unit had a 230v 20amp plug (one horizontal, one vertical contact prong). DIdnt matter in my case, as I had the 20 amp circuit in place with a dual 15/20 plug. But, if you are wiring yours up for this AC, note that you will need a 20 amp circuit.

So, i will keep it, but if I had to buy again, i would look for a quieter unit.
