Oreck Pilot® Vacuum Cleaner Review

I used an older Oreck for a few years and I liked it. It didn't have a built-in camera or MP3, but it did precisely what a vacuum cleaner is supposed to do: vacuum floors. And so, when the need came for another vacuum, I bought this new Oreck Pilot XL and did my first cleaning with it. It seems to work as advertised and is pretty comparable with my good old Oreck.

PROS:
It's relatively quiet and lightweight. Has long cord. Nice bright white LED light in front. Easily maneuverable, seems to turn just like Dyson's ball in their commercials. Simple build - simple operation. Two speeds - the first speed is useful on bath rugs, for example. 5 year warranty. Large disposable HEPA dust bag (new cleaner comes with two paper bags).

CONS:
Pricey. It's a good machine with good reputation, but I don't really see four hundred worth of hardware in it. It is why I removed a star from my rating. Another con is that on the second speed the vacuum pulls forward pretty hard on carpeted floors. This pulling may ease up a bit with time as the rotating brush wears out.

Recommended if you can afford.
