Stork Craft Custom Tuscany Glider and Ottoman, Cherry Review

I purchased the cherry finish gilder and ottoman with lumbar pillow and chocolate cushions. Before purchasing, I went to my local baby supply store and test drove a few after narrowing down my selection based off online customer reviews (I would highly recommend doing this). At first, I didn't think that having a gliding ottoman to go with it would make that much of a difference, but after trying them out in the store, I realized that when one is actually gliding, it's very helpful to have your legs and feet move in tandem - and at nearly the same level as your waist. The lumbar pillow is an added bonus - if you need/like extra back support like me, it does the trick. Other reviewers had mentioned that the chair was too small for them, but it fits both me and my husband comfortably: I'm 5'8" (36 weeks pregnant) and my husband is 6'3" (we are both fit people, so we are at our appropriate weight/height ratio). I'm glad I got the chocolate cushions since it will not show stains easily like the lighter colors. As another reviewer has previously stated, the fabric is very odoriferous; put it in the fresh air for a few days, or at the very least, open the windows in the room prior to use.

My husband put it together with ease, but the female end of one of the snaps on the armrest came off when he tried to snap the cushion to it. We were able to engineer it ourselves, but it shows that this is another one of those mass produced products from China. (More evidence of this is assembly with the provided allen key - as are most mass produced products these days.) I don't see this chair being passed to future generations because it is not heirloom quality. If you're willing to invest the money in purchasing this chair, and you want something that is of high quality and able to be passed down to your children, spend a little more and buy heirloom quality from your local furniture store.

Overall, it's comfortable, glides smooth, and is aesthetically pleasing.

--UPDATE--
My son is now a little over three weeks old and we spend a lot of time in the rocker during night time feedings. It is very comfortable and the bonus pillow helps to prop him up when he nurses. The only thing that could use some improvement is if the rocker reclined. Also, if you do not have carpeting in your bedroom (we have hardwood floors), be sure to put a mat under the rocker and glider as it slides on the floor very easily. More than once I've had the ottoman slide out from under my feet when rocking.

--UPDATE--8/2013--
I have used this chair for both of my children. My second little one is now seven months old. Just last week, one of the springs popped out of the seat of the chair and we are having difficulty repairing it. It's not a spring-y type spring, it's a hard formed metal spring with a peg in either end. Each peg sits in a hole on opposite ends of the seat. I'm dropping my rating by one star for this malfunction. We use our chair normally, don't ever slam into it or rough with it in any way, so there's no reason the spring should have popped out. Still working on a fix.

Culinary Institute of America 10-Piece Cookware Set Review

We purchased the CIA Masters 10 piece set, plus the 12 inch frypan and a wooden spoon after researching the Viking and All Clad Copper Core sets. We were able to visit stores in our area to handle the Viking and All Clad sets before purchase - we were not able to see the CIA Masters set before purchase.

In terms of weight, the CIA Masters set is similar in weight to the All Clad regular stainless set. The handles have two rivets and have the All Clad grove with the Viking curvature. The lids are slightly domed similar to the Viking set.

In terms of the copper layer - we compared the CIA set against the All Clad Copper Core. If you look at a piece of All Clad Copper core you will see a copper layer that is about 1/8" thick and very easily identified. If you look at a piece of CIA Master cookware, the copper layer can hardly be seen. Given the price of copper these days, my guess is this amount of copper in the CIA cookware is part of the price difference to the All Clad Copper Core set. (10 piece set of CIA cookware is $499, 10 piece set of All Clad Copper Core $1200.)

The set arrived from Metro Kitchen in three days and was beautifully packaged.

So - why won't we recommend the set? First -you need to use silicon or wooden utensils with this set. Do not use metal utensils. The stainless steel is very very soft and the pans scratch easily. In fact, the very first time we used the set we made large, easily visible scratches on the outside bottom and inside just from making risotto. (note -- we have other stainless steel cookware where this is not a problem.)

Second, the golden rule when using stainless is to use low to medium heat. Higher temperatures cause a reaction with stainless steel which cause a bluish / brownish stain. The first time we used one of the frypans this marking appeared despite the low heat we used.

We haven't had any problems with food sticking (that pretty much a function of knowing how to cook in stainless anyway...) - but we can't honestly say the cookware is any better than the Emerilware or Cooks Essentials set we had previously.

Frankly we wish we had not paid $500+ for cookware that is "just okay" and that is going to show wear in a very short time. The Viking or All Clad set would have been a better choice.

The tiles are wonderful. I have already ordered more, but not from this company. Will not order from them again. Their customer service is terrible. Seems like the staff are irritated from the moment they answer the phone. Not only that, but they supposedly bill you for one item immediately, then six months later they bill you again saying they forgot to bill you, but no one notifies you of any discrepancy or error.
So please check your credit and bank card statements.
So to digging through six months worth of statements, receipts and transactions.

American Retro AR-15002 Classic Coca-Cola Refrigerated Machine Review

I bought this Coke machine from Amazon, and I had some reservations about buying it from the other review posted. First of all, if you are a Coca-Cola drinker, or like soda in general, you should get this. This thing looks great and has a great vintage look. Westinghouse actually made these machines in the '30s and '40s, and according to the manual, this machine was built to the exact specs of that machine. The manual says that the parts in this machine, and the old Westinghouse Junior machines are interchangable, which I thought was cool. I bought some Coke in glass bottles at my local Weis grocery store, and put them in, and they got ice cold in just a few hours. This thing looks like something Rick Dale restored. It has an adjustable thermostat, and is built like a tank. I was worried about it arriving with scratches and dents all over it, seeing as how UPS and FedEx practice their soccer skills on our packages, but luckily it arrived in great shape. The other reviewer said that the lid doesn't shut all the way. I think he got a bad one, because mine shuts fine. Also, when the compressor kicks on, it's not that loud. It's no louder than a fan.

Anyway, I would definately recommend buying this. Coca-Cola is timeless. I just wish they made Coke in glass bottles on a grander scale in the US and made it more readily available in grocery stores. The machine looks and functions great. You'll love it!
