I spent countless hours looking for a vanity for a vessel sink. The funny thing is that there are literally hundreds of vessel sinks to choose from, but when it comes to vanities, there are few that are of the right HEIGHT to accommodate them. Please keep in mind that when buying a vessel and vanity, that the vanity should be in the 31-32 inch range in height (about the height of a kitchen table). This allows for the vessel, which can be about 6" high to sit on top and be comfortably accessed. 99% of the vanities out there (on line and big box stores) are in the 35" range (kitchen counter top height) and are made for DROP IN sinks that sit Below the counter top. Before searching, get a tape measure and try it yourself. Put a large serving bowl on the table and then the counter. You'll see how comfortable it is and isnt to use (unless you are very tall of course).So back to the review. I purchased this simply because I could not find a nice cabinet vanity for a vessel sink that was in the 31" range. As I said, they just arent out there, or they are overly expensive and 8 times out of 10, they are modern styling or built to be hung from the wall. Not exactly what we were looking for. So by process of elimination, we made the call to buy this vanity. Overall height, including the marble top, which is made by American Standard and goes with this cabinet is 32". I have reviewed that as well.
Styling and Build Quality are very good. Interesting thing about this vanity is that it is packaged flat and the sides are actually hinged. But it pops open easily and the bottom floor of the cabinet folds down and fits into a couple of pegs. Really it is a super easy set up. Takes less than 5 minutes to unpack and get upright to install. If the hinged sides bother you, yes, there is a seam, but no, the hinges are hidden. There is a separate shelf with 3 adjusters inside for the right height or to clear your plumbing hook up in the back. The back is open completely for easy installation. No hole drilling. Nice. The cabinet has 1 functional door NOT DRAWERS. I knew this before buying. The top knobs are non functional and the door below is actually square (where all the pulls are located below the knobs). It is hinged on the right side. All seems to be wood. Looks nice. Cherry color. Hardware is a dirty nickel color, not brushed, dull. Looks antique.
Overall price is right too...that includes the marble top. One thing in buying a vanity for a vessel is that there are not a whole lot of manufactured options for tops that are in the high $100 or Low $200 range. We looked at various vanities we really liked and then factored in the cost of a custom top (marble, granite, manufactured stone, etc) and with the custom drilling for the drain hole and faucet, the costs were just too high for us. So we went with this cabinet.
If you are looking for similar nice sized cabinets, Signature Hardware (online) has a nice selection and nice website, but all cabinets are roughly 34.5" and then when you add the top, it raised it too high to be comfortable. We strongly considered getting a cabinet and top there. Overall, they are a bit more expensive, but nice products, but in the end, their cabinets were too tall.
Back to this cabinet, I give it 4 stars. Im not wowed enough to give it 5. Maybe if the drawers really were drawers and if it was a solid piece of furniture, but again no real complaints here. Nice product for a good price.
