I have never been a fan of rocking chairs, but my husband has been threatening to bring one home without my review or input. Knowing my husband's lack of decorating sense and because he was searching on bargain websites and at yard sales, I knew he was very serious. With his threat, I decided to take a proactive approach and purchase one that matches our home decor and surprise him for his birthday. THIS ROCKING CHAIR IS A HUGE HIT!!! The advertisement photo and description are very accurate. The chair is packaged very well and, although the shipping box arrived with a few dings, it was well protected and undamaged. It was easy to assemble using the directions included; done in approximately 1 hour. (Note, I used a power drill to tighten the screws.) It is very sturdy, made of hard wood only. My husband was ill and in the hospital when I purchased and assembled the chair, so I had a few weeks to test drive it before he saw it. I am 5' 4" and weigh 130 lbs. My husband is 6', 245 lbs. This rocking chair is nicely oversized to fit me and our 50 lb English Springer Spaniel doggie very comfortably. My dog lays to the right or left of me in the seat and rests his head on my lap. He loves the rocking motion while I relax, read, work on my laptop computer, or watch TV. On his birthday, my husband came home from the hospital after 70 days recovering from a serious illness and surgeries (yes, multiple surgeries). When he saw the rocking chair in our livingroom he was so overwhelmed with joy he began to cry. He absolutely loves the chair. In fact, he is sitting in it right now enjoying a glass of chocolate milk and fun-size Kit Kats.
