Had this bed through two moves. 3 heavyweight teenages could sleep on it with no problem, let along most smaller children that will use it. Went through move with no problems whatsoever.

This bed is an outstanding option if you like the look. Looks great in my kids room in my loft.

Now, for the love of all, STAY AWAY from all other pieces in the set. The little rolling trunk is fine, but top feels like the vinyl it is and cheapens the look. But the chest of drawers are the worst constructed pieces o crap I've ever bought. Not worth 1/10th the price. Drawers fall of rails constantly, and the MDF siding has a really cheap walmart wannabe grain to it.

Maybe I'm a snob, but I have no problem with the bed. Buy it. But get other pieces for your kids room, not the pieces in this set.

3" Plush Talalay Latex Topper Mattress Pad - 100% Natural Latex - Queen Review

I put this on top of an older, high quality, hard as rock, mattress. The mattress was in fine shape but began to create pressure points on my hip when I sleep on my side. This was a result of my getting older; the mattress is still in fine shape.

I investigated getting a new mattress but the only ones that seemed comfortable to me were over $1,800. Even for this amount of money, I don't think they are as well made as my current mattress.

So I took a chance that this $360 topper would work. Both my wife and I are extremely happy with the comfort that this adds without affecting the underlying support. We've slept on this topper for over a week and both of us are sleeping better. All in all, it feels at least as comfortable as the high-end mattresses at the store and the talalay latex (vs. polyurethane) foam should outlast them by many years.

My old mattress was 9.5 - 10" thick. With this topper and a mattress pad, all of our sheets still fit with room to spare. I also ordered a SnugFleece wool pad that hasn't arrived yet. I can't imagine any improvement, but we'll see.

UPDATE 6/12/12
So it's been a few months now and it continues to exceed expectations. I tried the SnugFleece, but had to send it back due to the lingering "barnyard" smell. I think any mattress pad will work well with it, without spending another $280.

Cold Steel Tai Pan Kraton Handle (Leather Sheath) Review

Probably the best blade in my growing collection. Right out of the box I immediately appreciated its excellent craftsmanship (this is a Japanese make BTW), the superb balance, and razor sharp edge (I accidentally grazed myself sheathing it and drew a nice incision along my finger. Ouch!). This is defintiely a knife collector's dream with all its positives. The accompanying leather sheath is esthetic and functional without the stiff draw common to the cheap Secure-Ex covers.

It's not ideal for multitasking outside of its design function as a personal defense weapon, but then again I have other tools for the mundane tasks when trekking the great outdoors.

Another phenomenal CS product in my opinion and well worth the $ spent on it.

I mostly purchased this machine over the other brands because of it's square footprint- I figured it would be easier to store in the cabinet, on a countertop, on a shelf. Most other machines look like a thermos or carafe or coffee maker. I was super surprised at how big it was though! Wasn't expecting this machine to be nearly the size of my bread machine! Still works for me though because the output is large which we needed for this family of 5.

Perhaps the best part about this machine (besides it's ease of use) is how much stuff comes with it! I was unaware that it would come with an okara strainer, complete tofu mold including cheesecloth, SEVERAL packets of tofu coagulant, bean measuring scoop, and wooden spatula! Also comes with very simple directions written in what I presume to be Korean in the first half and actual American English in the second half of the manual!

Progressive Furniture Winston Large Server Review

I had plans to refurbish a dresser or desk into a server for the dining room. Looking for ideas I stumbled onto this server. I am so glad I did. This is an absolutely beautiful piece of furniture. It is sturdy, real wood. Beautiful finish. Very functional. It blends with my other furniture and looks great even in our 150+ year old home with more traditional furniture. There is a ton of room for linens, silverware, coffee, teas, etc. I can't wait to set it up at Thanksgiving and Christmas. It even comes with hardware to anchor it to the wall. Important if you have kids who will climb or elderly person that might lean on it. This is not to imply that it is not stable . Quite the contrary. You will love this piece and you will be very happy with the service from Plumstruck. The server arrived damaged from the shipping. Plumstruck responded immediately to my email with a solution. I later realized there was more damage due to shipping than originally noticed. Again the company responded quickly with 3 scenarios to address the situation. I chose to keep the server and accept a discount. Most of the damage was not visible and I could tell the product was quality because even as much as it was banged around it remained sturdy. Also I couldn't wait to use it and figured the shipping company might mess up again. I am so happy.
