Jofran Small Space Milton Chairside Table Review

This table is much heavier than it looks. The table ships complete (aside from having to reverse the knobs on the drawers) and the packing was about the best I've ever seen. The problem was that the right back hand corner on the top was chipped/cracked off, and it was very visible. Another problem is that the packing was so thorough, it was impossible to get the table out of the box without basically destroying a lot of the packing material in the process, making it difficult to repack in the event the table needs to be returned.

Also, the finish on the top was not all that great/consistent, depending on which angle you were looking at it from.

I contacted the seller and was instructed to take photos of the table and send the photos to them. I did that, and am awaiting their response. (See those photos above.)

It's a shame -- it's a decent table that fit the space perfectly. I'll update after I hear back from the seller.

(If the table hadn't been damaged upon arrival, I'd probably have given it 4 stars, deducting one star for the uneven finish. So bear that in mind. By the same token, with items like this, it's a hassle to return them if/when they come damaged because of their weight and the degree of difficulty getting them back in the box. Since there's no guarantee beforehand, I think it's fair to give this item a 3 star rating. But as always...your mileage might vary.)

Update 1: Today is 8/15/12, and I still haven't heard one word from this seller (WSports) regarding getting this situation resolved -- only form letters and empty promises to "get right on it". To show just how much I would never buy anything from this seller again, last night I purchased a $400 office chair from Amazon rather than WSports, even though they were both selling the same item for the same price. Why be forced to deal with their lousy customer service when Amazon is top tier when it comes to customer service on damaged items?

Update 2: Eventually (on 8/29/12) the replacement table arrived. This time, there was no chip, although there was a slight indentation in the exact same back left hand corner as the first one. I was told to "field destroy" the first one, or keep it for parts. As I stated above, the fit/finish of this table leaves something to be desired. I had to take a brown magic marker and touch up several spots. This item just does not have a high quality appearance if you look at it closely. From a distance, however, it looks pretty good.
