Product arrived on time and was well packaged. The equipment appears to be well built and I was able to install it myself by following their somewhat less than complete instructions. (Lots of general guidelines on the internet helped clear up any confusion.) After vacuuming out the lines (I bought a vacuum pump and guages so I could do this mylelf) and checking for leaks with soapy water, I fired up the unit and it ran fine and put out nice cold air. The outside unit is very quiet and the inside unit is about what you would expect from a fan with different speeds. It took me a while to realize that the remote control was not a thermostat (just what they call a "dumb remote.") It sets the control temperature (temperature of the return air) on the wall unit. I have mine near the ceiling on a ten foot wall so the air temperature at five feet above the floor goes down to 70 degrees when the set temperature is at 76 degrees. I think this is typical of mini splits, but perhaps better (read "more expensive") units have an actual wireless remote thermostat. I have a very open floor plan and this one unit brings the temperature of the entire first floor (1400 sq ft) down to a comfortable level when the outdoor temp is in the mid 80's.

In order to check for gas line leaks you tilt the unit away from the wall at the bottom to get at the pipes. I made the mistake of leaving it running in this position for about 10 minutes and got water running down my wall. This was because the drain pan was tilted beyond its capacity. Don't run it in this position for more than a few minutes. Based on this experience I decided to add an automatic switch (SS610E from RectorSeal - $49) which shuts the unit down if the water in the drain pan gets too high. Again, perhaps more expensive units have these built in, I don't know. I decided to install this unit in my living room and plan to add one or two additional units next summer if everything goes well with this one for a year. The price is so good, I have to wonder about life expectancy, but only time will tell! Very pleased with this product so far.
